PA Nordic Challenge 2021 Recap
Thanks to everyone who took part in the PA Nordic Challenge and congratulations to all the finishers! All those photos appearing on the website every day helped to keep the skiers motivated and the training fun.
The screenshot shows a variety of leaderboards; the overall leaders in distance were Alan Hough (469 km) and Kathy Schreckengost (283 km) and between us we skied 4481 km. From the youth skiers, the girls' and boys' distance leaders were Lilianna Hug (248km) and Matthew South (114km) in the 11-16y age group, and Kaylin Atkinson (38km) and Bridger Hug (112km) in the 6-10y age group.
Alan Hough skied the furthest in one go (53km, classic), just 7km further than Riccardo Monaco (46km, skate), while Naomi Jarvis skied for the longest in one go (6.5h, 31km from Saltsburg to Conemaugh Dam and back on untracked snow over ice over snow, the hills were really fun). Lilanna Hug recorded more workouts (40) on more days (36) than anyone else; the runner up was Ed Cook with 31. Over 90% of the activities were skiing outdoors on snow, as we were extremely fortunate with the fantastic winter weather.
