No new grooming today but, hopefully, tomorrow. Skiing is good. Sadly, some people walked on the tracks with a dog, and someone drove a snowmobile on a couple trails. Evidently, no one taught them trail etiquette. All upper trails will be regroomed tomorrow, with hopes of getting out to Silvermine. Currently, 9° and sunny. Minimal wind. Wax of the day: Swix Polar.

Worked most of the morning grooming trails with Mike Burke. Tough going in the deep snow. Upper trails are all groomed and set track. We didn't do lower Towhee or Silvermine. It's 9° , sunny and windy. Go ski!

Storm is here! As of this writing about 4” on top of a good base. Plan today is to roll the trails a couple of times today to capture as much snow as possible! Will be snowing steadily till midnight so will certainly be a fresh powder day all day!

The crew at work..... Bob and Denny cleared two trees, and packed the upper trails. There's not enough snow to set tracks, but the incoming snow overnight and this afternoon will, surely, make for good skiing on Thursday. Hoping we can groom and put tracks in tomorrow.

Skiing was very marginal today. There's about 3-4" on the ground, but you had to zigzag a lot to miss rocks and damp spots. Good news: ground is starting to firm up. We just need snow! Do the dance!

More snow needed! Skiing is not recommended at present. While we're waiting, let's get ready for the Kind-a-hard which we hope will happen on Feb 1st, consider skiing or volunteering, it'll be a fun day.

Need more snow, hopefully soon. The ground is still pretty wet, and rocks are poking out. It's not conducive for any quality skiing. Summit Road was skied, but not sure how good it was.

Just following up on Bob's post...... trails aren't good! Not enough snow and it's wet underneath. Someone skied Summit Road.... could be decent???!

Rolled loop to hut and lippos loop to create a base for this evening’s snow. Snowed all night and morning very light snow that packed to create a thin base its skiable but bring your older skis. Regardless it’s beautiful out there.

About 6"-8" wet snow on the trails. Some small wet spots starting to show. The clearance too groom came today so we are set when conditions cool down and enough snow on trails. Going too be a lot melting next few days but will see if we get enough snow Friday too do some grooming. Forcast right now isnt promising for the next week.

Great day for backcountry skiing. 12° on LM, and no wind. We still can't machine groom, but tracks are being 'skied in' by the hearty individuals braving the cold and wonderful sunshine.
Denny McDonough 1:13 pm 15 December 2025

13 December 2025

Snow has been steadily falling since 2pm.. at least 8” and more to accumulate maybe 12” by morning. We’re not grooming this weekend but conditions nevertheless will be excellent.

Our agreement with DCNR for grooming at Laurel Mountain ended on March 31 and the new agreement is still in the works. Unexpectedly, DCNR recently changed their requirements to include a COI and we are currently researching new insurance options. We expect that the new insurance will be very expensive, substantially more than we have paid in the past. We cannot do any trail grooming until the new agreement is in place.

First post from Laurel Mt. for the season. If you really have to ski, go for it. However, you'll have to dodge a lot of rocks. The bigger issue is sinking through and getting moisture. The ground needs to freeze up more, and we'd have to receive 6-8" of snow. I won't ski again until we get snow.
